Allen-Vanguard Products To Be Showcased At DSEi Security Exhibition

Allen-Vanguard, the internal security specialist, is launching a range of products at the defence industry's most prestigious exhibition, Defence Systems and Equipment International (DSEi) 2007.

The event takes place in London at the ExCel centre from 11-14 September.

The main focus at the exhibition will be Allen-Vanguard's unique new accessory for the Defender and Vanguard™ ROVs: ROV-Track CBRNE hazard software. The equipment predicts and illustrates CBRN hazard areas around a suspect device based on data compiled by sensors integrated with either ROV and transmitted to a central command console. It provides the scene controller with vital information in real time for the formulation of a safe and effective response.

Demonstrating the software at DSEi for the first time will be Allen-Vanguard's new digital mini ROV, the Vanguard™. It has been upgraded ready for launch at the exhibition with a digital command console enabling 'plug & play' accessory functionality, intuitive control and full interoperability with its larger sister ROV, the Defender.

The Vanguard's™ digital architecture means new devices can be added to the ROV 'network' and controlled remotely without returning the robot to the workshop and suffering downtime. Learning new features and functions is a fast and intuitive process for operators - straightforward tasks can be mastered within 30 minutes.

Combined touch screen and hard controls mean multi functioning is easy - for example, lights and cameras can be controlled while driving forward or the arm can be manipulated while steering. In addition, the hand controller can be removed from the console to provide some functionality via Bluetooth - this is particularly useful for training, maintenance and driving the ROV in and out of its transporter.

The console can also be used as a laptop, allowing operators to compile reports and embed images recorded during the incident.

Robust and versatile, the Vanguard™ confidently performs a critical range of first response functions. Its modular construction and simple electronics design make maintenance and support in the field simple and inexpensive, improving the life-time value of the robot.

Alongside the ROVs, Allen-Vanguard will also be exhibiting two new models of Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) equipment. Delegates are invited to visit stand 495 in the UK Pavilion to find out more.
