The role of an armored security vehicle is to enable the occupants of the vehicle to evade the threat in the event of an attack.
The most important aspect of these vehicles is the armoring that will provide protection against ballistic and blast attacks. However, there are many types of equipment that can be installed in order to enhance the safety of occupants in the vehicle and subsequently increase the probability of survival. Depending on the application, some equipment may even be considered a necessity.
Optional Security Equipment
As a custom armored vehicles manufacturer, International Armored Group offers a wide range of optional equipment available to be installed, improving the vehicle’s security measures, performance, and utility.
There are many additional security features that can expand the capabilities of the vehicle, such as roof escape hatches for an alternate exit point, turrets to protect gunners from attacks, and ram bumpers to drive through any road blocks. We also offer various types of gun ports to allow occupants to provide covering fire during evasive manoeuvres. The hidden gun port is installed in the ballistic metal portion of the vehicle, the oval gun port is installed on the ballistic glass while the standard gun port is installed on the metal frame of the ballistic glass.
Communication systems such as intercoms and satellite phones can also be installed to allow the occupants to establish a line of contact with other vehicles or headquarters. Fire suppression systems are also crucial for events such is an engine fire; the system can suppress the fire to keep the vehicle operational.
Armored Security Vehicles
Many of the armored security vehicles are used in hostile environments or rough terrain. They can also be driven in an aggressive manner during evasive situations. As a standard feature, IAG upgrades the suspension and braking system of the OEM vehicle in order to improve vehicle handling of the heavier armored vehicle. However, additional upgrades are also offered, further enhancing vehicle dynamics.
Additional power can be added to the vehicle with modifications such as upgraded turbochargers and superchargers. If electronic equipment will be installed onto the vehicle, high output alternators are also recommended due to the increased power usage.
There are real-life scenarios in which vehicles were overloaded with electronic equipment, and the OEM alternators were not sufficient to handle the additional power, resulting in entire vehicle power failure.
Various add-ons can also enhance vehicle utility. Options such as roof racks can provide increased options for mounting equipment, snorkels will keep the vehicle functional when crossing shallow water, and spot lights or infrared cameras can increase visibility during low light environments.
There are countless options available for armored security vehicles, please contact us for more details.
