A large SUV built on a fully boxed frame derived from the Toyota Tundra, the Toyota Sequoia is a very comfortable and luxurious vehicle designed to sit 8 passengers in comfort. The strong chassis and high payload, combined with a powerful 5.7L V8 petrol engine and automatic transmission, allows International Armored Group to convert this Toyota Sequoia into a very capable armored vehicle.

IAG's Armored Toyota Sequoia with Patented Smartarmor® Single Piece Design

As found in other IAG armored vehicles, the armored Toyota Sequoia utilizes our patented Smartarmor® Single Piece Design. This design has been tested and certified to work, as evidenced by IAG's BRV 2009 VR7 certified Toyota Land Cruiser 200 Convoy. Each side of the Toyota Sequoia, from the firewall to the rear bulkhead and from the floor to the roof, is constructed of only one solid piece of 6.5mm certified B6 ballistic steel, integrating all door overlap and transparent areas on the side of the Toyota Sequoia. This allows IAG's B6 armored Toyota Sequoia to offer superior blast protection and higher structural rigidity when compared to designs that use multiple pieces.

The adjoining area between two ballistic steel pieces in any armored vehicle is typically the weakest point. Ballistic steel, the most commonly used opaque material for armored vehicles, undergoes micro-fractures and loses some of its rated protective properties when subjected to large temperature changes. These temperature changes are most commonly found during welding.

In the event projectiles strike the welded areas between ballistic steel pieces, the projectiles may penetrate into the cabin, injuring or killing the occupants. In a blast event, such as those caused by roadside bombs or IEDs, the welded pieces of ballistic steel may detach and act as flying shrapnel within the vehicle. By using only one single, solid piece of ballistic steel for the side armor, IAG's armored Toyota Sequoia overcomes these weaknesses to offer superior ballistic and blast protection.

Besides offering an extremely strong and protective armoring design, extensive efforts have been taken to upgrade the Toyota Sequoia's suspension and braking system. The suspension system is extensively upgraded by incorporating new lifting points and heavy duty components, offering a ride that perfectly balances driveability and comfort. The brake system is also extensively upgraded so that despite heavy repeated use, the brake system will not fade or suffer performance degradation.
