Throughout the past several years, the demand for armored vehicles has grown substantially. As proof of International Armored Group's technical capabilities to meet this demand, IAG is the first armored car company in the world to design and manufacture the armored Audi Q5, armored BMW X6 and the new armored Nissan Patrol Y62 (also known as the armored Infiniti QX56). Confident that our company would be able to deliver, IAG was once again commissioned to build another world first; a supercharged, B6 armored 2011 GMC Yukon - the IAG "Night Hawk".

In addition to the challenges of installing a supercharger system into a brand new 2011 armored GMC Yukon (no supercharger systems had yet been designed), IAG was required to incorporate many unique items, such as an oil slick and smoke defence systems, tack droppers, communications equipment and military grade infrared night vision camera. Furthermore, the vehicle must be able to drive through almost any road condition without compromising passenger comfort or safety.

The process begins with IAG's patented SmartArmor® system. Utilizing only one whole solid piece of B6 certified ballistic steel for each side of the vehicle, from firewall to rear bulkhead and from the roof to the floor, the armored Night Hawk is reinforced with the strongest and most protective armor deisgn. Throughout the entire vehicle, as many large pieces of ballistic steel as possible are used, overlap welded, such that no gaps exist in the armor. This process not only provides a very strong armored structure but also allows for optimized weight distribution and handling dynamics.

To provide the best balance between handling and comfort, IAG custom designed and upgraded all drive components. The suspension system was completely replaced and upgraded with heavy duty shock absorbers and external oil reservoirs, heavy duty dual stage coil springs and other suspension components that increased the number of lifting points in the car. Heavy duty, 10-ply 80PSI tires that provided over 16000 lbs of payload were wrapped around custom fabricated heavy duty steel rims. Six piston calliper brakes with drilled rotors were installed at all four wheels. Lastly, by fabricating custom mounts for the engine bay in-house, IAG became a key player in the development process of the supercharger kit for the 2011 B6 GMC Yukon increasing the vehicle power from OEM 350HP, 382lb-ft to supercharged 500HP, 510lb-ft.

Commissioned to create the ultimate armored VIP vehicle, International Armored Group once again rose to the challenge and created the world's most powerful and well protected 2011 B6 GMC Yukon - Night Hawk. For more information, please feel free to contact International Armored Group anytime.
