The recent trend in the automotive industry shows that the market is currently emphasizing on fuel efficiency due to increased customer demand as a result of escalating fuel prices and strict environmental and emissions regulations. Manufacturers are responding by discontinuing larger commercial vans such as the Ford E Series, limiting the product selection in an already small segment of the market.
Due to the increase in demand for personnel transport platforms based on commercially available chassis offering a discrete appearance, IAG has recently introduced the Armored GMC Savana van to its product lineup. The GMC Savana 3500 is one of the few full size vans currently available on the market with two wheelbase options: the 135 inch regular wheelbase and 155 inch extended wheelbase. IAG has developed an armoring design configured for either personnel transport or cash-in-transit applications.
Armoring is available up to CEN B6/NIJ Level III, capable of defeating multiple rifle rounds, up to the 7.62x51mm caliber. With a powerful 6.0L Vortec V8 gasoline engine and 6-speed automatic transmission mounted to a heavy duty chassis, the Armored GMC Savana 3500 has a high payload rating capable of supporting the armoring in addition to passengers and cargo.
As part of the standard IAG armoring package, key components of the vehicle are upgraded to enhance handling of the armored van even under poor road conditions and terrains, as well as, maximize vehicle reliability and durability.
For passenger transport, IAG is capable of customizing the rear compartment of the vehicle to accommodate up to 9+1 passengers with individual high-back forward facing seats, with the option of lap belt, 3-point seat belt, or 4-point seat harness. Alternatively, IAG can also configure the rear with separate compartments, ideal for transportation of valuables such as cash and gold bullions.
