Mobotix Cameras Sail Twice Around The World, Non-Stop
Mobotix cameras are to sail twice around the world, non-stop with the sail2horizons p...
The German company MOBOTIX AG is known as the leading pioneer in network camera technology.
Since its foundiation in 1999, the company’s decentralised concept has made high-resolution video systems cost efficient. Whether in embassies, airports, railway stations, ports, gas stations, hotels or on highways – over hundred thousand MOBOTIX video systems have been in operation on every continent for years.
In just a short time, MOBOTIX has become the second largest supplier of network cameras in Europe and occupies fourth place worldwide in terms of market share. MOBOTIX has been exclusivey manufacturing megapixel cameras for years and ranks as the global market leader in high-resolution video systems with a market share of over 60%.
MOBOTIX AG offers high-resolution complete video systems featuring technology that is unique worldwide: an intelligent, decentralized system structure in which data can be processed and stored in the cameras themselves and not on central recording equipment.
Digital mass storage devices such as SD cards now make it possible to store 16 gigabytes of data directly in the camera. This is an outstanding method of long-term recording in day-to-day banking business and it means that MOBOTIX systems can get by with far fewer cameras and system components than analog or other IP-based systems.
Over 80% of video technology in use today is obsolete. These systems operate at a maximum resolution of 0.4 megapixel, and thus deliver only about 10% of the image quality of a conventional mobile phone camera. If regulations required a minimum resolution of 0.5 megapixel today, the entire analog technology and a large proportion of (low-resolution) IP-based technology could no longer be used.
When several cameras are monitoring a single room, it is difficult to understand the room layout in its single views. This makes it hard to comprehend the overall setting. The new panorama function of the Q22 delivers a widescreen image of a high-resolution 180° allround view. This makes it possible to monitor entire rooms discreetly with a single camera - for just 698 euros. This world novelty demonstrates again the innovative strength of MOBOTIX as a global leader for megapixel video security systems.
The Q22 also zooms in on detail and can deliver together with the 180° panorama two more views simultaneously, making it possible to focus on two scenes and the overview at the same time. With a joystick and thanks to virtual PTZ, the camera is maintenance-free with no mechanical moving parts.
High image quality is achieved through the use of a 3.1 megapixel sensor and the new hemispheric lens. Since the image distortion correction of the hemispheric view and the generating of the panoramic view take place in the camera itself, no additional load is placed on the viewer PC compared to a standard camera.
Thus, displaying a large number of panoramic cameras simultaneously on a single PC is possible. The surround function of the Q22 immediately replaces four conventional cameras and shows four different directions simultaneously in quad view on a monitor. Virtual PTZ is available for each of the four views.
MOBOTIX offers the most cost-efficient camera solution for banks. The high image resolution means that fewer cameras are needed, and the internal Flash recording eliminates the need for additional recording devices. Thanks to its 3.1 megapixel image sensors, a MOBOTIX camera achieves several times higher image detail than a CCTV camera, allowing it to monitor multiple cash desks simultaneously in accordance with the UVV standard (German accident prevention regulations for banks).
An optional 16-GB SD Flash card in the camera enables four alarm buffers of 30 minutes and 30,000 suspicion images to be stored without the need for an additional recording device or PC and without increasing the network load.
The D22-Secure dome camera can monitor two adjacent cash desks for 748 euros, including lens. The camera comes with UVVcertified MxCC research software at no extra cost. It is not necessary to use a local PC since it can also access the alarm buffer of a bank branch via the network from the MxCC control center using encrypted remote access.
NEW: MxEasy and MxCC 2.0
The MxEasy video software manages up to 16 cameras, from network connection to the graphical configuration of the recording types and times. At the end of October, for the first time Version 1.0b
is free downloadable. With new functions and improved user interface, the new Version 2.0 of the professional video software MxCC has been presented at SECURITY Exhibition in Essen and will be available end of 2008.
At Security 2008, MOBOTIX presented its new door communication product line based on the international video telephony standard VoIP/SIP. When the doorbell rings, a connection is set up via the network to a videophone or a PC. A 3.1-megapixel camera with a hemispheric lens enables the entire scene outside the building to be monitored. The image section is selected using virtual PTZ via the telephone, with no mechanical movement.
The door station automatically stores events outside the building with sound whenever doorbell is rang, movement is detected or switches are triggered. The station and the door opener are powered via the network cable. Physically, the VoIP door station fits into the Vario module system from the German manufacturer SIEDLE and can be integrated with most of the modules, such as doorbell plates, motion detectors or lighting.
A Record Fiscal Year
In the last fiscal year ending on June 30, 2008, the MOBOTIX group, with its 200 employees, succeeded in increasing the sales revenue by around 50% to 35.3 million euros, achieving a net income of 4.9 million euros after taxes. Despite one-time expenses resulting from the Initial Public Offering and the development of the hemispheric technology for its allround cameras, MOBOTIX managed to raise its EBIT margin to 19%. The export ratio was 62%.
