OPC And Scripts With Ethiris

Ethiris® is a platform that, with its well-developed support for OPC, offers great potential for integration with other systems.

OPC is used on several levels in Ethiris^®. Via its integral OPC client, Ethiris^® can initiate communication with signals in other systems that have OPC support. Examples of such systems are I/O units, PLC systems, HMI/SCADA systems and dynamic movement systems.

There is also an OPC server that makes it possible for systems to connect to Ethiris^®. This enables other systems to read or affect the status of cameras and other objects that are managed by Ethiris^® and thus, for example, start video recording. Via an OPC server or a COM component, other systems can remotely control an Ethiris® client, for example to select different camera views in connection with different events.

Ethiris^® 4.0 also has a complete script engine that gives the user the freedom to combine available signals to create a complete system-specific application.

In addition to signals via OPC, the script code also has access to a large number of internal signals configured in Ethiris^® server, for example the current extent of movement in the movement detectors, the current state of the schedules and the current image speed from the cameras.

Script management in Ethiris^® allows you to write any expressions to achieve the functions you want in your system. Just like JavaScript, the Ethiris^® script engine is based on the ECMA-262 standard, which is well-known and widely distributed.
