Radiant, Inc., offers one of the most cost-efficient and effective hardware, software, and firmware solutions for video motion detection and target tracking on the market today.

Radiant's Digital Video Motion Detector (DVMD)

units can be integrated with an array of cameras and customized software and firmware to produce the motion detection system you or your customer need, from hallway to perimeter monitoring to dropped bag detection. Attention to detail and quality in all aspects of product development and customer service is quickly making Radiant a market leader in the area of automated video surveillance.

The key to the flexibility of Radiant's DVMDs is the innovative video processor module that serves as the heart of their technologies. Their module utilizes advanced signal processing methods and a statistical detector to provide robustness in noisy environments. It learns a scene within just two seconds, establishing a model for normal motion in that scene, and then begins to detect abnormal motion.

It is packaged into a standalone unit (the DVMD) that requires only a power source and a video input. Pairing a DVMD with a pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera provides a system that can track up to eight objects at a time (people, vehicles, animals, etc.) in the video feed.

When an intrusion condition is detected, it indicates the location of the intruder using a black or white box and activates a relay alarm via dry contact. System connectivity can be serial-to-PC or via Ethernet. For applications requiring the use of multiple cameras, such as large-site monitoring, Radiant also offers the DVMD-16, a rack mount package that holds up to 16 modules. The small size of the module (approximately 1.35" x 2.5" x 0.35") allows a high-density packaging that requires significantly less space than most multiple-camera monitoring systems.

With the DVMD, you can also take advantage of the expertise of your security staff. A user (for example, your video monitoring expert) can specify his own set of rules that determines how moving objects are analyzed. These rules establish the requirements necessary to trigger an alarm, allowing the DVMD to be customized to handle almost any application associated with outdoor video motion detection.

Customers are using the Radiant products in bids for borders, pipelines, airports, military bases, nuclear power plants, and infrastructure, as well as for traffic monitoring, people or animal counting, and for unattended bag detection in locations such as airport terminals.

Easy setup and integration with an existing array of cameras is important, but even more important is excellent performance and operating specifications. The innovative algorithms embedded in the video processor module enable a high probability of detection (Pd), which reflects how effectively each unit detects real intrusions, while maintaining a low Nuisance Alarm Rate (NAR), which is a measure of how susceptible a unit is to alarming on false intrusions.

When measured against the performance of other video monitoring packages operating in challenging outdoor environments, Radiant's DVMD provides both one of the highest Pd ratings and one of the lowest NAR ratings - no easy task, given that excellence in one of these performance measures typically comes at the expense of the other.

On top of this, each DVMD requires only 1/2 watt of power and has a low EMI, ESD Immunity, and a very high Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) at 100,000+ hours. Its extended operating temperature range means that it will remain functional in the toughest of operating environments, from desert to arctic conditions.

With each device sold, free software is provided that allows you to configure DVMD settings through an easy-to-use GUI. Web-based firmware and software upgrades for the module are available free at www.dvmd.com. A robust API is also provided to allow you to interface your own software to the device.

In the event that you have more complex requirements for your particular application, Radiant is ready to help you develop the best monitoring system possible. Radiant's engineers can specify, design, and produce custom hardware products to fit your particular video motion detection needs. This includes schematics, layout, prototype, small run production, and even full production.

Radiant also offers the module on an OEM basis for integration into other security products such as video streamers, cameras, and digital video recorders. The module is currently integrated into a variety of products from manufacturers around the world. OEM customers receive both Design Phase and Production Phase support, including an evaluation unit, design and development consultation, 3D CAD models, and a final design review at no cost. It is Radiant's goal to help you produce an effective solution for the end customer.

Radiant pleases its customers by offering an exceptional value in motion detection technology - an excellent product at an excellent price: less than $1,000 per channel! An evaluation unit for your inspection and testing can be obtained for only $499.

The Quality of Radiant's Products

is also apparent in their sales and returns numbers - thousands of units have been sold, with a return rate due to defection or displeasure of less than 1%. Why should you spend thousands of dollars on video analytics when you can get the same or better quality for under $1,000? Order an evaluation unit and judge for yourself. Once you experience the outstanding quality of their products and service, Radiant is sure you will find them to be right on target for all your video surveillance needs.
