Sports Stadium Security Software Unveiled

Sports Security Software

A sports security software programme has been created in the US in a bid to ensure the safety of the thousands of spectators that gather in stadiums when major events are on.

Recognising the appeal, to terrorists, of events like the Superbowl - with so many people contained in a comparatively small space and the potential for loss of life amidst all the panic - the Sport Evac software deals with one specific issue: efficiently emptying stadiums in the event of an attack.

Sport Evac allows stadiums to be constructed in virtual 3D, filled with a maximum of 70,000 simulated spectators and for emergency evacuation procedures to be trialled out.

Sports Security Software

This sports security software was developed by the US National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security, with funding supplied by the US Department of Homeland Security. Many other contributors were also involved including professional sports experts, police officers, stadium security workers, first response officials and representatives of the Mississippi Homeland Security, to render Sport Evac with the highest possible level of real-world accuracy.

According to its developers, it helps the right decisions to be made at crucial times and has a number of applications. These include helping distribute personnel and physical resources in and around stadiums and boosting communication levels and those behind it point out that terrorist acts are just one event within its capability palette: among the others are extreme weather, fan violence and serious accidents, all of which could require a rapid spectator exit model to be adopted.

Stadium security officials equipped with Sport Evac can, therefore, observe in advance human traffic flow, parts of a stadium where congestion's likely and other information and so, then implement real-world procedures accordingly.

Sport Evac doesn't just cover the inside of stadiums but areas outside them, too and, right now, it's in the hands of no less than 24 universities across the US. Students there will study its current performance level and try to raise the bar even further.

Security Technology will further explore Sport Evac in future News coverage once more facts have emerged.
